First of the Gen 2 Guides…. Changing the CVT Gearbox oil

So it’s been asked on the Forum and the facebook group and Philip ‘Obi Wan’ Egan came to the rescue before departing the club with this step by step guide to getting the system flushed. We’ve fleshed it out with Photo’s to make it a bit clearer than just the words so should be easy for everyone to follow.

Many driving issues around odd revving and power delivery are cured by a CVT oil change and as such it’s worth giving a go. Also with few if any of the imports coming over with a service history it’s probably worth doing as soon as you get the car if the importer/ dealer hasn’t done it.

An oil change can be done through the gear box sump but it seems that only changes about half the oil where as Phil’s method gets closer to the full gearbox volume which is 7-8 litres. The oil is stated to be long life and good for 60k miles or so and is Nissan NS-2, I am not aware of any alternatives to this and it’s not cheap requiring 2 bottles to hit the 8 litres but with how rare CVT gear boxes are to replace yours if it goes…. it’s probably a good investment.

Where in the world is Cubie sandiego

It’s been noticed that the facebook group is nearing 2500 members and in the post mentioning it folks asked if we knew where people were. Well facebook doesn’t offer a quick option for that but it did remind that a while ago we started a Members map!

If you have a google account you can edit the map and add a pin to show where in the world you are and see other owners near you. For reasons of safety we recommend not sticking it right on top of your house but generally on your home town or rough area is a good start.

With so many new members lately it would be good to see a few more pins added so the map is through the image link below….

About the Shows

Just thought I would write a small piece about shows ,
this year I took on organizing the japfest shows for the club with Phil organizing the Nissan experience show. As Phil has now left the club after a number of years of developing the club (much appreciated and big shoes to fill) he passed my details on to the guy from Nissan, so next year I’ll carry on organizing these three shows.

In the past japfest 1 has been considered the main show of the year, but this year saw smaller attendance numbers. Likely due to poor weather and a disappointing stand position in 2014 I think a number of people were put off attending

So as we had such a good turn out at the Nissan experience show I think it would make sense to make this the main show of the year.

I have discussed this with a number of members and they seem to agree and it is a much more central location for everyone to get to being in the Midlands.

It would be nice to hear other people thoughts on this ,and if anyone has any other shows they think the club should attend drop them in the comments below.

How to Replace the rear bulbs on the Gen 3/Z12

It happens to everyone, a rear bulb goes out and some helpful citizen shouts at you from another car, usually followed or preceded by something about the weird car your in! The lights aren’t accessed from inside the car like many other models so you’ll probably find the kid from halfords with the basic tool kit you just paid £5 to fit your new bulb to looking puzzled as they didn’t have one of these on the training video. So to get into the rear light bulbs to swap them over you need to go through the following procedure. Continue reading
